Twenty years of .NET, and why I built this site in Blazor

· 1 min read · #dotnet #blazor #career

I started building for the web with classic ASP and Visual Basic 6. Since then I've shipped .NET software for hospitals, utilities, banks and state governments, and I've migrated more legacy systems than I can count: classic ASP to ASP.NET, VB6 to C#, mainframe DB2 to SQL Server and Web APIs.

So when it came time to build a personal site, I used the stack I know best: .NET 10 and Blazor.

How it's built

  • Pages render on the server as plain HTML, so they're fast and search-engine friendly.
  • Only the parts that need it, like the project filter and the contact form, use Blazor Server interactivity.
  • Content lives in a JSON file and Markdown posts like this one, so updating the site doesn't mean touching code.
  • It runs on Windows / IIS hosting, the same way many of the enterprise apps I've supported do.

What I'll write about

Most of my recent work is about putting AI to work across the software development life cycle: GitHub Copilot, LLM APIs, AI-assisted testing and agentic workflows, with the validation and human review that regulated industries need. That's what I'll write about here.
